Senator Bonacic Attends Senior Housing Ribbon Cutting Ceremony In Ellenville
State Senator John J. Bonacic (R/I/C - Mount Hope) was a featured speaker at the Ribbon Cutting ceremony of the new senior housing complex on the campus of the Ellenville Regional Hospital. Senator Bonacic joined CEO Steve Kelley from the hospital and developer Jonah Mandelbaum of Warwick Properties, Inc.
"Supporting our community hospitals and creating new housing opportunities for our seniors are always priorities for me," stated Senator Bonacic. "This is a great celebration for the future. It wasn’t that long ago, when Ellenville Regional Hospital was slated for closure; now it is growing to meet our community’s needs."
The ribbon cutting ceremony was held on Ellenville Regional Hospital’s campus on Route 209. The environmentally friendly senior housing building is comprised of 55 units for low income seniors; rents will be as low as $340 and up to $690 plus utilities. The project was funded with nearly $10 million in State and federal aid.
"As the need for affordable senior housing is ever-increasing, I look forward to working with community organizations and people who care about our future to create more opportunities such as this one. I am confident this senior complex and the group effort that made it happen, will be a model for years to come," Senator Bonacic concluded.
