Senator Parker Demands Real Solutions To Solve Economic Crisis

Kevin S. Parker

“HOW we budget-in terms of generating new revenues and reducing state expenses- not WHAT we budget is what should be on the table.”

Brooklyn, NY – Senator Parker urged today in a memorandum to the Senate Democratic Leader and members of the Senate Democratic Conference to take a swift but deliberate action in resolving the financial budget crisis. Recently re-elected fourth term Brooklyn lawmaker memorandum implored for a solution that is affordable and achieves the process of reform, rejects the ideas that across-the-board spending is the solution, and advocates for a closer look on cutting commitments to health care, education and family planning.

“We need to be honest with each other and with the public about the principles we will bring to the debate and negotiations over this and future budgets”, said Senator Parker.  I believe that across-the-board spending cuts are not going to actually solve the problem for taxpayers.  We know that cutting our commitments to healthcare, education, or family planning will only shift those burdens to counties and municipal governments, who will in turn be forced to raise local taxes”, written in a memorandum by Senator Parker.
