Program Director and Seniors Eagerly Accepts Funds to Improve Facility

Brooklyn, NY - July 30, 2008-    State Senator Parker presented a check for $100,000, Wednesday July 30th, to the Glenwood Senior Center.  During the center’s peak hours, seniors gathered as they expressed their gratitude for the generous grant given by Senator Parker. The check will fund necessary improvements to the center’s facility.

“This funding represents the best of local and state priorities, said Senator Parker.  The seniors in this community can count on me to improve facilities that care for them while they are away from home.”

The Glenwood Senior Center provides a wide range of services that promote dignity, independence and respect to senior adults.  The center’s goal is to create an environment that encourages physical and emotional stability and an overall sense of wellness.

“I am both excited and overjoyed for this donation, said Janelle St. Hill, Program Manager of the Glenwood Senior Center.  Words cannot express how I truly feel at the moment.”

Ms. Hill alluded to spending the capital funds for kitchen upgrades, general electric improvements, and dining room renovations. Revamping of existing space will permit the expansion of future programs for senior residents within the 21st district who are members of the Glenwood Senior Center.

“We’re exceedingly glad that Sen. Parker has allowed us to renovate our kitchen and dining room to continue to provide services to our seniors, said Robin S. Apparicio, Project Director for Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services.”
