Senator Parker Provides Free Health Screenings
Brooklyn, NY - - State Senator Kevin Parker partners with Kings County Hospital Center to provide a mobile health screening unit for the public, regardless of their ability to pay. The mobile unit visited the Senator’s district office on Friday, June 18, 2008 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Visitors were able to obtain information on health insurance offered through Metro Health Plus.
The health screening event was the fourth installment from a full line up of free summer services provided by Senator Parker. The mobile unit included state-of-the- art equipment used for Asthma, Diabetes and Blood Pressure screenings. Those with a family history of diabetes and high/low blood pressure were encouraged to start screenings earlier and be tested more frequently.
“Individuals who may not have insurance or the ability to get screened for these diseases elsewhere should not be forced to pay, said Senator Parker. “I'm convinced that increased screening can help fight and save lives in Brooklyn. Offering free health screenings provides greater hopes for my constituents in achieving the first step to better health care.”
On Friday, July 25, 2008, Senator Parker will partner with the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles to conveniently provide remote DMV needs at the Senator’s district office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. located on 4515 Avenue D, Brooklyn NY 11203 (between East 45th & 46th streets).
