FORT HAMILTON CITIZENS ACTION COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES ARMY COMMUNITY COVENANT SIGNING CEREMONY

President William Guarinello and members of the Fort Hamilton Citizens Action Committee are today announcing the upcoming Army Community Covenant Signing Ceremony, to be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at twelve o’clock noon on The Bluff at Fort Hamilton Army Base, Brooklyn, New York.

The Army Community Covenant initiative is designed to foster and sustain effective state and community partnerships in improving the quality of life for Soldiers and their families, both at their current duty stations and as they transfer from state to state. The Army community Covenant is tailored to the local level, with leaders at both the local and state levels participating in Covenant signing ceremonies recognizing the strength of the Army Soldiers, their families and the support of the local community.

The Fort Hamilton Citizens Action Committee is "looking forward to this historic day, that will further strengthen the bond between the community and our beloved Fort Hamilton Army Base. This Committee has worked to ensure that our military feels right at home in our neighborhood, because we are the home of free because of the brave."

Military officials, elected officials, community activists and residents are expected to attend. A barbecue will follow in celebration of Fort Hamilton Community Day. In case of inclement weather, the Signing Ceremony will be held at the Fort Hamilton Post Theater.

Media is required to respond as to attendance by contacting the Fort Hamilton Public Affairs Office: Cathy Santopietro, (718) 630-4721/4780, John Manley at (718) 630-4721 or Bruce Hill at (718) 630-4780.
