SENATOR GOLDEN AND AMERICAN ITALIAN CANCER FOUNDATION TO HOST FREE MAMMOGRAM SCREENINGS FOR WOMEN OF THE COMMUNITY

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden is announcing his plans to host free mammography screenings in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation this month at both of his district offices.

The 37 foot mobile mammography van, staffed completely by women, will be outside of Senator Golden’s District Office, located at 7408-5th Avenue, on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The mobile mammography van will also be outside Senator Golden’s District Office located at 3610 Quentin Road on Monday, September 29, 2008, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The mammography screenings are free of charge and take about thirty minutes to complete. An appointment, which is necessary, can be made by calling 1-800-564-6868.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "I again am proud to partner and welcome the American-Italian Cancer Foundation to the community to make available free mammography screenings for women forty years and older. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and I encourage all those who have not had a mammogram in more than a year to make an appointment and to get screened."

The objective of the American-Italian Cancer Foundation's (AICF) Free Mobile Mammography Program is to break down the barriers to breast cancer screening that result in many under served women losing their lives to breast cancer due to advanced disease at diagnosis.
