Senator Golden: Relief From Solicitations Available To Local Homeowners

State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, 22nd District) today is announcing that his office is making available signs for local homeowners to prevent unsolicited advertising materials on their properties, following the State Senate’s passage of legislation creating such a New York State Law.

Senator Golden voted in favor of legislation that has banned the distribution of commercial advertising circulars on any private property in New York City where the property owner has posted a sign stating that the placement of such circulars is prohibited. Civil penalties can be imposed upon a company found in violation of between $250 and $1000 per violation.

Senator Golden stated, "Property owners are becoming extremely frustrated by the regular nuisance of finding flyers on their doorstep which translates into litter lining their property and their streets. For those residents, I am making these signs available so that these companies are put on notice that at a specific address, these solicitations are unwanted. These signs will help to maintain our quality of life. So contact my office, request a sign and post it on your property if you are one of the many who have had enough of these flyers."

Senator Golden has signs available, free of charge, for placement on private property that read, "Do Not Place Unsolicited Advertising Materials On This Property".
