Senator McDonald Holds First District Office Meeting
TROY – Senator Roy McDonald held his first meeting at the Troy District Office with the Executive Director of the Rensselaer County ARC to discuss the governor’s proposed budget and how it will affect mental health services.
The meeting provided an opportunity for parents of mentally disabled children, and care providers the ability to voice their concerns over the negative impacts that the governor’s proposed budget would have on their ability to care for those disabilities.
“I am very committed to supporting the families assisted by the Saratoga and Rensselaer County ARC programs” McDonald continued, “when I discovered that my two grandsons were diagnosed with autism, I gained firsthand knowledge of the issues, difficulties and challenges facing the families that care for these individuals.”
“It is imperative that we do not balance our state budget on the backs of those providing services and respite to individuals suffering from developmental disabilities” McDonald commented, “these special people need us to advocate tirelessly on their behalf to ensure their needs are provided for."
“Special people need special love” said Senator McDonald.
