New York Hispanic Clergy To Defend Traditional Marriage In Albany And Washington, DC

Ruben Diaz

On Thursday, June 19, 2008, at 10:00am New York State Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz will be joined by legislators, Members of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization, and ministers from throughout the State at the New Yorkers’ Family Research Foundation’s Power in the Pulpit Initiative Day in Albany. The day’s events, which will begin at the "Well" in the Legislative Office Building in Albany, are in strong opposition to New York Governor David Paterson’s recent decision to unilaterally decide that New York taxpayers should treat same-sex couples who marry out of state or abroad as if they were legally married in New York

Different speakers will join at a press conference to express their outrage and disappointment of Governor Paterson's directive to state agencies to recognize gay marriages legally performed in other states and countries. Although the New York State Senate has been, and continues to be, under intense pressure from same-sex marriage supporters to pass this legislation, Senator Rev. Diaz remains undeterred, stating, "I will not vote for it based on my religion and beliefs."

On Saturday, June 21, 2008, Senator Rev. Diaz and members of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization will travel to Washington, DC to Rally for Traditional Marriage at Lafayette Park on Pennsylvania Avenue across from the White House. Two buses will depart from Christian Community Neighborhood Church, a Pentecostal Church where Senator Rev. Diaz serves as Pastor, located at 1437 Longfellow Avenue in The Bronx. More buses with Evangelical Hispanic clergy and members will depart from churches in the tri-state area to arrive in Washington at noon.

New Yorkers’ Family Research Foundation is an educational ministry whose purpose is to inform Christians about their biblical responsibility toward government.
