Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz And Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. To Lead Bronx Solidarity March

On Saturday, May 3, 2008 at 12:00 noon, New York State Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) and New York State Assemblyman Ruben Diaz, Jr. (D-Bronx) will lead a Bronx Solidarity March to peacefully protest Supreme Court Justice Arthur J. Cooperman’s acquittal of three New York City Police Detectives in the shooting death of Sean Bell.

The Bronx Solidarity March will begin at 1157 Wheeler Avenue, also known as “Amadou Diallo Way” in the Soundview Section of The Bronx, at the building where Amadou Diallo lived until February 4, 1999 when he died in a hail of police bullets outside his home.  The March will proceed to the 43rd Precinct located at 900 Fteley Avenue.

“This March will be held in Solidarity with protests led by Reverend Al Sharpton,” stated Assemblyman Ruben Diaz Jr.  “We urge community leaders, religious leaders, students, and all Bronx residents to join us in Solidarity to peacefully rally and speak out against the injustice of a young unarmed black man, Sean Bell, who was shot 50 times by New York City Police Detectives and died on the morning of his wedding day.  Our message needs to be clear – we will not be ignored and we continue to demand justice” said Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz.
