Olana Partnership To Receive Funding Secured By Senator Steve Saland

Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) today announced he has secured funding in the 2008-2009 State Budget for the Olana Partnership for the implementation of a signage project at the Olana State Historic site.

Olana was built in the late 1800s and was the home of Frederic Church (1826-1900), an important American artist and a major figure in the Hudson River School of landscape painting. Today, Olana is a New York State Historic Site and a National Historic Landmark visited by thousands each year.

“Olana State Historic Site is one of the Hudson Valley’s treasures,” said Senator Saland. “The careful restoration of the Persian style house and the outstanding vistas of the Hudson River have brought visitors from all over the world. I am glad I have been able to secure the $35,000 grant to help replace inadequate signage throughout the 250 acre site which will help guide the 130,000 annual visitors around the site.”
