Saland Announces Funding In Budget For The Columbia County Agricultural Society
Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) today announced he has secured $25,000 in the 2008-2009 State Budget for the Columbia County Agricultural Society for improvements to the Columbia County Fair Grounds.
Saland secured the funding for improvements to the midfield parking area. The upgrades will include increasing the number of parking spaces, especially handicap parking, and providing a paved roadway surface to help handicapped persons gain access to the main portion of the fair grounds.
"The Columbia County Fair Grounds have a long history of providing an outstanding entertainment venue for the families of Columbia County and the surrounding area," said Senator Saland. "I am glad I was able to secure these funds to provide additional parking as well as easier access to the main fairgrounds for everyone to enjoy the events."
"We are very appreciative of all the support Senator Saland has provided for the Fair over the years. He has been very receptive to promoting agriculture in the County and the Fair in particular. We are very grateful for the grant he secured for us in the Budget to improve handicap parking at the fair grounds," said Angelo Nero, Secretary, Columbia County Agricultural Society and Columbia County Fair.
