Senator Saland Secures Funding For The Dutchess County Fairgrounds
The Dutchess County Fair is the largest six-day fair in New York State, attracting over 300,000 patrons annually, with more than 750,000 for all the fairground’s events. The funding will be used to refurbish Building D, including replacements of light fixtures with energy efficient lighting and the renovation of the kitchen. Building D holds the Farm Fresh Festival, showcasing home grown, field fresh foods grown in Dutchess County.
“The Dutchess County Fairgrounds are much more than the County Fair, hosting numerous events throughout the year that bring tourism dollars into the County,” said Senator Saland. “From the County Fair and craft shows, food and wine events to classic car and antique shows, an investment in the Fairgrounds gives an economic boost to the entire area. The grant I have secured to refurbish Building D with energy efficient, environmentally friendly lighting fixtures will not only save energy, but save money too. Renovating the kitchen will allow for more efficient preparation for the foods.”
Commenting on the grant, Fairgrounds General Manager, Bob Grems said, "The Dutchess County Agricultural Society, Inc. is grateful to Senator Saland for his efforts in arranging for this grant. In Building D, we focus on ‘the bounty of Dutchess County’ showcasing farm grown products. It is also an outlet for all kinds of specialty foods. This grant will help us do some important upgrading and modernizing of the building."
