Senator Steve Saland Announces Funding For Bardavon 1869 Opera House
Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) today announced he has secured $56,000 for the Bardavon’s Cultural Heritage Program in the 2008-2009 State Budget.
The Bardavon will use the funding for the continuation of its Cultural Heritage Program which provides performances by diverse artists in four areas: the Mainstage series, the HVP (Hudson Valley Philharmonic) symphonic concerts, the Daytime Performance Series of the Bardavon/HVP education program and outdoor seasonal community events.
"The Bardavon 1869 Opera House is a Poughkeepsie and Hudson Valley treasure -- enriching us through the arts and entertainment while contributing to our local economy," said Senator Saland. "The continuation of their myriad programs for young and old contributes to the quality of life of the area. The Bardavon is an attraction for local residents as well as visitors and I am pleased to have been able to secure funding."
"The kind of support Senator Saland gives us is the base of our operations -- we couldn’t operate without it. His support ensures a great diversity of programs season after season," said Chris Silva, Executive Director, Bardavon 1869 Opera House.
