Senator Steve Saland Secures Funding For Local Organizations In State Budget

Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) today announced funding for a number of local organizations with diverse missions in Dutchess County.

Saland secured the following funding in the 2008-2009 State Budget:

• Legal Services of the Hudson Valley will receive $4,630 for the purchase of computers
• The Mediation Center of Dutchess County will receive $1,785 for the purchase of a laptop computer and portable printer
• PANDA TV 23 - Public Access Channel will receive $5,000 for the purchase of camera equipment
• The Red Hook Chamber of Commerce will receive $4,160 for the purchase office equipment
• The SPCA of Dutchess County will receive $5,000 for the purchase of a laptop computer, digital camera, workstations and back-up tape drive
• St. Cabrini Home will receive $6,845 for the purchase of computers

“These organizations contribute immensely to the quality of life in Dutchess County,” said Senator Saland. “They provide invaluable services to our communities in a myriad of ways. Legal Services of the Hudson Valley provides free civil legal services for those who cannot afford representation. The Mediation Center provides free or low cost conflict resolution services. PANDA TV 23 broadcasts local municipal, educational, cultural and historic programming. The Red Hook Chamber of Commerce is a not-for-profit organization that advocates for local businesses. St. Cabrini Home is a not-for-profit organization which provides residential care and intervention to adolescents and their families. I am pleased to have been able to provide these grants to help them continue their work.”

Tony Cortese, Executive Director of St. Cabrini Home said, “Our kids generally come from lower socio-economic families. This grant will help bridge the technology divide by providing money to purchase computers for use by our young people. We appreciate Senator Saland's efforts in securing this grant.”
