Good Samaritan Hospital Receives $1.5 Million In Start-up Funding For Electrophysiology Lab State Sen. Morahan Pushes Funding In New York State Budget; Lab Will Save And Enhance Lives Of Lower Hudson Valley Residents
State Senator Thomas P. Morahan was instrumental in securing $1.5 million in the state's budget for start-up funding for a new Electrophysiology Lab at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, that will be on the front lines in saving and enhancing lives for residents of the Lower Hudson Valley.
The Good Samaritan Electrophysiology (EP) Lab will be part of the hospital’s Active International Cardiovascular Institute – and will provide advanced electrophysiology services, including pacemaker implantation and maintenance, implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) insertion, and cardiac ablation to treat abnormal heart rhythms. Electrophysiology, a cardiac specialty, diagnoses and treats heart rhythm irregularities, aiding the heart to resynchronize and improve its overall functioning.
“Senator Morahan worked extremely hard to obtain this funding, especially during this year’s challenging budgeting atmosphere. He successfully showcased the tremendous benefits our EP lab will bring to the residents of the Lower Hudson Valley,” said Michael Schnieders, Executive Vice President and Administrator of Good Samaritan Hospital. “His efforts will save many lives and lead to greater quality of life for a growing number of people within our region who require advanced electrophysiology services.”
