Crown Point Bridge closed indefinitely

The state Department of Transportation and the Vermont Agency of Transportation closed the Crown Point Bridge Friday afternoon due to structural problems with two of the bridge's supports.

The state found that two of the piers, which are concrete supports anchored in the water, had "deteriorated to the point where they're not structurally sound to support the weight of the bridge above the pier," said Dan Mac Entee, spokesman for state Sen. Betty Little.
