State, federal Senates looking at dairy farmer aid, new markets

State and federal senators are working this week to help local dairy farmers.

The state Senate’s Agriculture Committee met Monday to hear testimony on dairy issues. State Sen. Catharine Young, R-Olean, who is the ranking Republican on the committee, and Sen. George Winner, R-Elmira, also a committee member, have taken an interest in the diary farmers in the Southern Tier.
