State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) and Assemblyman David McDonough (19th Assembly District) today visited Kennedy High School to congratulate the Boys Varsity Volleyball Team on winning the Nassau County Class B Championship.

Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman McDonough presented each of the players and coaches with copies of a resolution they sponsored in the State Legislature honoring the team’s achievement.

The team won the championship by defeating Roslyn High School in the class B finals, capping a season where they amassed 17 wins against only one loss. According to Coach Allen Ma, their victory, along with the Kennedy HS Girls Volleyball Team’s County Championship this past fall, marks the first time in Nassau County history that a school has won both the boys and girls county volleyball championships in the same school year.

Team members Jason Edelman, Jacob Gellerman, Jeremy Miller, Daniel Segal, Greg Uffner, Jesse Forman, Jonathan Meshnick, Brendan Mills, Ryan Pastuch, Benjamin Hirschler, Matthew Lawner, Brian O’Gorman, Dylan Simonson, and Jacob Tabman all contributed to the team’s success. The team was led by Coaches Allen Ma and Dennis Ringel.

“Teamwork, talent, and many hours of practice helped the Cougars Boys Volleyball Team make history. The entire community is proud of this team’s accomplishment, and I am pleased to congratulate them on a job well done,” said Senator Fuschillo.
