SENATOR FUSCHILLO & ASSEMBLYMAN SWEENEY HELP FARMINGDALE STATE CUT RIBBON ON NEW EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. and Assemblyman Robert Sweeney today joined with officials at Farmingdale State College in cutting the ribbon on new educational technology for students in the College’s aviation program. Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Sweeney secured state funding for the new educational technology.
Farmingdale State College’s aviation program, which has been offered by the college for the last sixty years, is one of the oldest such programs anywhere in the country. It consists of two academic tracks-professional pilot and aviation administration.
According to Farmingdale State, the new flight simulator helps train students to pilot both light twin-engine and single-engine aircraft. These types of aircraft are typically used in general aviation. Not only does this simulator provide state of the art training to students, it helps them save money on their training costs.
“This is another positive step forward for Farmingdale State College. Using this technology, the College will provide state of the art training to students studying to be pilots. Thanks to this high-tech instruction, they will be better prepared for a career in the aviation field,” said Senator Fuschillo (R-Merrick).
“This new flight simulator uses the latest technology to help students reduce costs and become, safer, better-trained pilots,” said Assemblyman Sweeney (D-Lindenhurst). “Students and faculty at Farmingdale State will see immediate benefits from this simulator.”

Hubert Keen, President of Farmingdale State College. “Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Sweeney consistently have secured the funding for the key projects that are advancing Farmingdale to the benefit of the entire region.”
“Responding to a request from an aviation staff member, the UUPF leadership brought the need for a state-of-the-art simulator to Senator Fuschillo and Assemblyman Sweeney. Their responsiveness to our request will allow our students to develop pilot competency on the ground before flying-greatly enhancing the safety of students, staff, and the community. The union membership is thrilled,” said UUPF Legislative Chair Barbara Maertz.
