State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) today visited Mepham High School in Bellmore to congratulate Jacob Spiegel for being chosen as a semifinalist in the annual Intel Science Talent Search competition.

Senator Fuschillo presented Jacob with a copy of a legislative resolution that was passed by the State Senate in honor of his achievement.

The Intel Science Talent Search is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science competition. Participants come from all across the country, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands to compete in the program. Jacob was among only 300 students nationwide who were selected as semi-finalists.

“After countless hours of research, study, and hard work under the guidance of their teachers, Jacob has earned nationwide recognition by being named one of the top science students in the country. I join with the entire community in congratulating this young scientist in what I’m certain will be the first of many remarkable accomplishments,” said Senator Fuschillo.
