SENATOR FUSCHILLO CONGRATULATES NORTH BELLMORE-NORTH MERRICK LITTLE LEAGUE TEAM ON CAPTURING NEW YORK STATE JUNIOR LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick, pictured second right) recently congratulated members of the North Bellmore-North Merrick Little League on winning the 2009 New York State Little League Juniors Championship.
Senator Fuschillo presented each of the players and coaches with copies of a legislative resolution he sponsored in the State Senate honoring the team’s accomplishment.
The North Bellmore-North Merrick Rebels earned the title after beating teams from Elmira, Buffalo, and the Bronx before defeating a previously undefeated Harrison team in the championship game.
The team was led by manager Bob Lindgren and coaches John Frisolone and Ben Gonsowski. Players Chris Bianchi, Tom Brodsky, Gene Bunnenberg, Chris Durkin, John Frisolone, Nick Fronte, Reed Gonsowski, Connor Gordon, Andrew Kanarek, Grant Keifer, Jake Klerer, John Lindgren, Anthony Messina, and Adam Pedersen all contributed to the team’s success.
“Teamwork, dedication, and many hours of practice helped the North Bellmore-North Merrick Rebels earn a place among the best Little League teams in New York State. The entire community takes great pride in their achievement, and I am pleased to congratulate them on an incredible season,” said Senator Fuschillo.
