State Senator Savino Secures Capital Funding For Shema Kolainu
State Senator Diane Savino, who represents parts of Staten Island and Brooklyn in the New York State Senate, recently secured and presented a check of $150,000 in capital funding that will be earmarked for the $6 million capital campaign of Shema Kolainu – Hear Our Voices. Senator Savino expressed her commitment to the school, saying, "I visited Shema Kolainu, witnessed the dedication of its teachers and staff and was impressed with its innovative programs geared to providing a top level education to children with autism spectrum disorder." An expansion will add two additional fl oors to Shema Kolainu’s current building, located at 4302 New Utrecht Avenue in Brooklyn. This is in response to a waiting list of children who have been diagnosed with autism whose parents would like to avail themselves of the exceptional education and care offered at Shema Kolainu. Josh Weinstein, founder and president of Shema Kolainu-Hear Our Voices praised Savino’s commitment, saying, "I am deeply grateful to Senator Savino for recognizing the importance of government to supporting and funding the capital campaign, which is crucial to the future growth of Shema Kolainu. I look forward to others joining Diane Savino so together we can provide for the education and care of all our children."
