Local Roads Matter

The region’s local highway superintendents turned out in force in Albany recently to spread their message to state lawmakers that “local roads matter.” 

Superintendents representing Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties met with State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) to discuss a range of priority issues, including the need to protect New York’s commitment to the Consolidated Highway Improvement Program, commonly known as CHIPS. 

“The quality of our local transportation infrastructure has to remain a fundamental commitment.  It’s critical to the safety of local motorists, to tourism, and to future economic development and job creation,” said Senator Winner.
