Statement From Senator John Bonacic On Governor Paterson’s Appointment

“I applaud Governor Paterson for appointing someone outside of the City to serve as our United States Senator.  Congresswoman Gillibrand has the reputation of a reformer and is personally familiar with suburban and rural issues – something lacking in our other Statewide elected officials.

 “My hope is that as a United States Senator, she will be in a position to force the EPA to be more sensitive to the needs of the watershed.  She presently represents a large portion of the watershed in Delaware and Greene Counties.  I also hope she will work to support rural healthcare initiatives and shovel ready development.”
