Senator Flanagan Discusses Education Funding And The Proposed State Budget On Tv55’s Cutting Edge

Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) will be the guest on the Cutting Edge on WLNY-TV this Saturday and Sunday. Senator Flanagan joined hosts Matthew T. Crosson, the President of the Long Island Association President, James M. Klurfeld, Editor of Newsday's Editorial Pages, and Patrick Halpin, former Suffolk County Executive, for a half-hour discussion of the issues facing Long Island residents.

The four participated in a lively discussion about a wide-range of subjects that are extremely important to the future of Long Island, including the recent selection of New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. The main issue of the show was the recently proposed executive budget and its effect on Long Island taxpayers.

Senator Flanagan, who has already joined his Senate colleagues in calling the budget bad for Long Island, spoke about the need for enhancements to the aid directed to Long Island school districts and for relief for all Long Island homeowners.

"The fact that many of our school districts will receive the bare minimum while many of our homeowners will be unable to benefit from the proposed tax relief makes this a bad budget. Our parents and our homeowners should be given the relief they need and our students should get the funding they deserve," stated Senator Flanagan. "I am ready to work to make this a better budget for Long Islanders and to make sure that we get our fair share."
