Serrano S.3424 Passes Senate; Awaits Signature from Governor

Senator Serrano's bill to make "I Love New York" the official state slogan today passed the State Senate with unanimous support. The bill has already passed the Assembly, where it was sponsored by Assemblymember Joseph D. Morelle, and now awaits the signature of Governor Paterson in order to become law.

"The tourism campaign launched by New York in the late 1970s helped to revitalize our economy at a time of economic hardship," said the Senator, Chair of the Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks & Recreation Committee. "This piece of legislation, in further 'branding' the campaign, will once again harness the power of tourism to confront the current downturn in our State's economy."
