Freeing the flow of data crucial

ALBANY — New York gets good grades for making public information available on the Internet. But its shrouded, three-men-in-a-room budgeting and protracted Freedom of Information Law processes continue to frustrate the public.


As Sunshine Week begins, the Empire State is receiving praise and scorn. The goal of Sunshine Week, which runs through Saturday, is a shine a light on the importance of open government and freedom of information.
