Pre-session Press Briefing Regarding Historic Legislative Rules Reforms At 2:15 PM

Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith and Members to Hold Press Conference Immediately Following Session

Austin Shafran, Press Secretary to State Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith will hold a pre-session press briefing at 2:15 PM to discuss an historic rules reform package being proposed by resolution today.  These reforms are the first steps being takenby the new Majority to fundamentally change the Chamber to create a more openand deliberative body.  If passed, they will be the first substantive changes to Senate floor and committee operationsin decades. 

A press conference with Senator Smith and members, as well as representatives of good government groups will take place immediately following the close ofsession at approximately 4:30 to 5 PM.
