Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith Addresses Healthcare Association Of New York State Luncheon
(Albany, NY)- Today, Senate Majority Leader Malcolm A. Smith addressed the Healthcare Association of New York State, discussing the Senate’s vision for improving healthcare. Senator Smith spoke about the need to provide greater access to health coverage for all New Yorkers, boosting primary and preventive care and investing public money in areas where it will be most beneficial.
At the luncheon, Senator Smith said, "Together, we can reform our healthcare delivery system and take meaningful steps toward improving access to quality and affordable healthcare for all New Yorkers."
Senator Smith also spoke about the State receiving help from the federal government in the form of more F-MAP (Federal Medical Assistance Percentages) dollars for New York and the Senate’s efforts to maximize any federal funding the State receives.
"Millions of hard-working men and women are struggling everyday to attain affordable medical treatment for themselves and their families. The Senate Majority will be steadfast in our commitment to providing basic, quality healthcare to families across the State to adequately fund local institutions and to support policies that further that goal," said Senator Smith.
