Bronx African-American ‘Trailblazers’ Honored

State Sen. Pedro Espada, Jr. (D-Bronx, 33rd district), who serves as Senate Vice President for Urban Policy and Planning, concluded Black History Month by presenting the "African-American Trailblazers Award" during a special ceremony at the Bronx Library Center Auditorium, 310 East Kingsbridge Road, Bronx, NY, on Friday, February 27, 2009, at 6 p.m., to a group of local honorees who included Tuskegee airman Dr. Roscoe Brown, director of urban studies and education at CUNY; former NBA great Cal Ramsey; Middle School 101 Principle Kim Lisa Hewitt; Bronx CB7 Chairman Gregory Faulkner, and Rev. Roger Hambrick of Green Pastures Baptist Church.

"Their professional and personal achievements and contributions have earned them a place in Black History, blazing trails for our children and future generations in the Bronx and throughout our state and nation," Espada said.
