Senator Rev. Diaz Announces $200,000.00 Grant For Clason’s Point Branch Library
Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz (D-Bronx) is proud to announce that as a result of much effort and cooperation with his colleagues in Albany, legislation has been passed to award the Clason’s Point Branch Library with a construction grant of $200,000.00. The Clason’s Point Branch Library is located at 1215 Morrison Avenue in the 32nd Senatorial District.
In a letter dated April 24, 2007 letter to the Branch Librarian for Clason’s Point Library, Senator Rev. Diaz wrote: "As you know, these funds are much needed so that our community may enjoy the many privileges the New York Public Library system offers to our children and families."
Due to the age of the various systems currently being used in the Clason’s Point Branch Library, these funds have been allocated to replacing the air handling unit and the wiring for the heating ventilation and air conditioning system.
The grant funds are from a one-time allocation of $14 million in capital funds for public library construction provided by the New York State Legislature in the 2006-2007 State Budget. This grant is separate from the ongoing annual appropriation.
