SENATOR SALAND’S SIXTEENTH ANNUAL GOLDEN  GATHERING AT COLUMBIA-GREENE COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Senator Steve Saland (R,I,C Poughkeepsie) will hold his 16th Annual Golden Gathering on Saturday, October 18, 2008, at Columbia-Greene Community College on Route 23 in Hudson. The event will be held between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

"The Golden Gathering is a wonderful opportunity for seniors to meet in a central location and have access to a large variety of useful information and services,” said Senator Saland.  "I know that many seniors look forward to attending the Gathering and this year promises to be as informative and entertaining as years past."

The Gathering will host approximately 80 exhibitors and include numerous free health testing such as glaucoma screening, diabetes testing, kidney screening, posture screening and blood pressure readings.

The Healthcare Consortium will also have a licensed pharmacist conducting a Brown Bag Medicine Review.  Seniors are encouraged to bring their medication bottles or a list of their medications and the pharmacist will review them for possible drug interactions.

Free flu shots will be available again this year thanks to the generosity of Mid-Hudson Cablevision.

Entertainment will be provided by the Philmont Community Chorus and the Rip Van Winkle Brass. There will be free refreshments provided by Price Chopper and raffles for door prizes from area businesses..

Thanks to the support of our corporate sponsor, The McCann Foundation, the event is free of charge for all senior citizens.
