Garbage pickup proposal floated for Lake George islands

LAKE GEORGE -- The state Department of Environmental Conservation has been asked to increase camping fees on Lake George's islands next year to pay for garbage pickup that the state has proposed discontinuing.
Local officials said this week that they were hopeful the DEC will continue trash pickup on the islands after a meeting Friday with state officials to discuss the issue.
