State compromises on Adirondack sign changes

What brown (and yellow) can do is stay put.
A tentative plan by the state Department of Transportation will preserve most of the classic brown-and-yellow road signs in the Adirondack Park.
Under a proposal announced last week by Michael Shamma, a regional director for the agency, only road signs that direct drivers to hospitals, police and transportation centers will be changed.
