LOCAL GIRL SCOUTS MEET WITH SENATOR FUSCHILLO

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently met with five local girl scouts to listen to their ideas on how to help the community.

The five scouts, Brianna Kitchener and Erin Harding of North Merrick, and Farmingdale residents Caeley Looney, Emily Grote, and Maggie Miller, along with Brittney Scannell of Baldwin, are members of the Icebreakers, a Girl Scout First Lego League team. The First Lego League is a global competition designed to get children excited about science and technology through research, problem solving and engineering.

During their visit, the scouts shared with Senator Fuschillo some of their ideas about how transportation on Long Island could be improved, such as expanding the use of bicycles to reduce traffic congestion and auto emissions.

“It’s wonderful to see girls who are so enthusiastic about making a difference in the world at such a young age. They are very bright and I really enjoyed talking with them about their ideas to improve our community,” said Senator Fuschillo.
