Solar Panels Will Help Bellmore Schools Lower Energy Costs, Save Taxpayer Dollars, & Teach Students about “Green” Technology

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently joined with students, staff, and administrators from the Bellmore School District in unveiling the District’s new solar panel project at Winthrop Avenue School.

The solar panels were installed on the roof of Winthrop Avenue School and are used to help power the school’s operations. In addition, the district has set up a “star power learning center” where students can learn about solar energy and see how much energy is being produced by the solar panels through the district’s website. Senator Fuschillo previously helped secure state funding to help the district offset the costs of installing the solar technology.

“Reducing energy costs through solar technology, which is clean and renewable, will help the Bellmore School District save taxpayer dollars. In addition, it gives the district a great tool to teach students about how solar technology works and how they are helping to save the environment by using ‘green technology.’ Students, staff, and taxpayers in the Bellmore School District will all benefit from this technology,” said Senator Fuschillo.
