May declared Tourette Syndrome Awareness Month, Staten Island pols announce

TS is a neurological disorder of repetitive involuntary movements and vocalizations. Some 200,000 Americans are afflicted with severe forms of TS, the onset of which is usually seen in childhood.

Ms. Savino (D-North Shore/Brooklyn) said public awareness of the disorder will "encourage people to seek medical attention early, in order to get the assistance they need."
