NY Senate passes domestic worker 'bill of rights'

The state Senate passed a bill Tuesday night seeking to provide New York's 200,000 domestic workers with overtime pay, vacation and sick days and the right to a weekly day of rest.
“I hope we emerge with a version that is a lot closer to the Senate's bill,” said Ms. Savino. “I don't think we should give domestic workers bare-bones protection when all of the evidence shows that they have been exploited for decades.”
More than 100 domestic workers traveled from New York City to Albany to be present for the vote. If signed into law, it would be the first legislation in the nation to recognize domestic workers as a work force and give them rights...
