Senator Farley Honors Schenectady ’s 2010 Rose Queen

Senator Hugh T. Farley (R-C-I-Schenectady) participated in ceremonies at Schenectady's Central Park as Jessie Przystup Krajewski was crowned as Schenectady's 2010 Rose Queen.

Catholic Charities Senior Services annually recognizes contributions of the outstanding women who participate in their programs through this event. This was the 26^th annual Rose Queen coronation.

“This is a truly wonderful event in a beautiful setting,” said Senator Farley, “Each year it honors women who work so hard and give of themselves so much to help their neighbors—and ours—in the community. Catholic Charities itself also deserves commendation for the great work it does, not only in Schenectady, but throughout my senate district and within the Capital Region. I’m truly honored to be able to participate in this fine ceremony and to honor a woman like Mrs. Krajewski who has done so much for others.”

Mrs. Krajewski represented the “Home Delivery Meals” program of Catholic Charities Senior Services. Other Rose Queen candidates were: Carol Cramer (Duanesburg), Pearl Zvirman (Jewish Community Center), Carmen Ramos (Scotia-Glenville), and Pat Tooley (Ten Eyck).

Candidate escorts were William Kendle (Home Delivery Meals), Stanley Kwiatkowski (Duanesburg), Bud Kieppel (Jewish Community Center), Chuck Butler (Scotia-Glenville), and Frank Waddington (Ten Eyck).

Father Bob Longobucco provided the invocation. Henry Liebers played “America the Beautiful,” and Rebecca Breen performed a selection from the long-running show “The Fantastics.” A musical tribute to the late Sister Maureen Joyce concluded the program.
