Business group assesses politicians' voting records

Stephen Hawley, William Reilich, Brian Kolb and Joseph Errigo voted pro-business most often among Rochester-area members of the state Assembly, and George Winner Jr., Joseph Robach and Catharine Young were the most pro-business in Senate, the New York chapter of the National Federation of Independent Business reported Tuesday.

Hawley, R-Batavia, voted pro-business 91 percent of the time over 12 months, the group’s data show. Reilich, R-Greece, Kolb, R-Canandaigua, and Errigo, R-Conesus, all voted pro-business on 82 percent of state legislation.

Susan John, D-Rochester, had the lowest percentage of pro-business votes among the Rochester-area delegation at 9 percent. David Gantt, D-Rochester, was the next lowest at 13 percent.

In the Senate, Winner, R-Elmira, voted pro-business 100 percent of the time, the NFIB reported. Robach, R-Greece, and Young, R-Franklinville, had 89 percent pro-business voting records.

All Rochester-area senators had voting records that favored small businesses, with James Alesi, R-Perinton, the lowest at 78 percent.
