'Courageous' maid who accused Strauss-Kahn of rape must have her day in court, say supporters .

Activists have rallied behind the woman who accused former IMF boss Dominique Strauss-Kahn of sexual assault.

Calling on authorities to continue his prosecution, the women's rights groups and other community leaders say they want the local district attorney 'to do his job' and let the alleged victim have her day in court....

....New York Senator Bill Perkins said: 'We are here to ask the District Attorney to do his job. We ask (District Attorney Cyrus) Vance to let the victim have her day in court.'

Senator Perkins criticised the prosecution for reports that they might abandon the case because of the credibility of the hotel worker who brought the charges against Strauss-Kahn in May.

'A dismissal would discourage victims from coming forward for fear that they themselves would be put on trial,' he said.
