Senator Marcellino Joins Girl Scouts "Holiday Magic" Event
State Senator Carl Marcellino joined members of Service Unit #13 of the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County, Junior Troop 3696 and Cadet Troop 3838 at their “Holiday Magic” event on Saturday 03 December, 2011 at the Huntington Elks Lodge on Main Street, to help prepare Christmas and Hanukkah packages for the Veterans at the Northport Veterans Hospital as well as the Family Service League of Huntington, at which gifts were wrapped, marked and sent on their way after the girls donated two ½ boxes of toys for the U.S. Marine Corps ‘Toys for Tots’ program in which the Huntington Elks are dedicated supporters. Senator Marcellino is shown with Mrs. Joyce (Edward) Ryder and Mrs. Amy (Fred) Gross, Scout Leaders, as well as members of Junior Troop 3696 and Cadet Troop 3838. “So long as there are veterans, our troop as well as the Elks, will never forget them” noted Co-Leader Amy Gross. “The Marine Corp’s Toys-for-Tots program is just one more example of how the United States Marine Corps remains always faithful” continued Co-Leader Joyce Manley-Ryder.
The courtesy of the Huntington Elks in donating the use of their facilities from 8AM until 4PM for this project is much appreciated, as is the courtesy of Senator Marcellino, Mrs. Ryder’s former biology teacher, in making the time to attend and adding his smiles, good cheer and uplifting comments.
