When the Legislature is in session, they tend to spend half the week in Albany and half the week at home in their districts. For Senator Diane J. Savino, 46, a Democrat who represents parts of Staten Island and Brooklyn, Sunday is a day of transition. She wakes up in Staten Island and heads to Albany in time to have dinner with her boyfriend and fellow Democratic senator, Jeffrey D. Klein, and, often, a group of other legislators. ELIZABETH A. HARRIS EARLY RISER I generally get up every day at 6:30 a.m., even if I don’t want to. It’s force of habit. I just wake up. And I’m one of those people who are like the Energizer rabbit; once I’m up, I’m up! COFFEE AND NEWS The first thing I do every morning is flip through The Empire Page and all the papers across the state. Then I go back to The Empire Page. This is coffee time.
