Senator Dilan Speaks Redistricting on the Capitol Pressroom, December 16, 2010
Senator Martin Dilan is a Brooklyn Democrat & co-chairman of the Legislative Advisory Task Force on Demographic Research & Reapportionment (studio). In other words, until the end of the month, he has some sway over how the legislature determines redistricting.
While not much is expected to happen on this issue over the next few weeks, it’s clear from census information that has been released that the population of New York City is changing in significant ways (ie; immigrant communities proliferating in the suburbs). We will speak with the Senator about the changing face of New York, and what he hopes to see happen with redistricting this coming session.
