Giving Thanks
The Queens Gazette wrote about the 22nd GHOA's Thanksgiving Meal giveaway which was held at the organization’s headquarters, 23-49 31st St. this year. Senator Gianaris, along with other elected officials, volunteered to distribute meals to the elderly, the poor, the homeless and the lonesome in our community.
While millions of Americans spent their Thanksgiving holiday in the warm surroundings of home with family and friends, an equal number, including many throughout the city, experienced just the opposite.
For the members and volunteers of the Greek American Homeowners Association (GAHOA), this year’s holiday was spent making sure that those unfortunate persons including the elderly, the poor, the homeless and the lonesome were able to partake in the joy of Thanksgiving.
For the 22nd consecutive year the doors to the organization’s headquarters, 23-49 31st St., were opened on Thanksgiving Day where members provided enough free meals to feed more than 700 area residents who lined up for a hot turkey meal with all the trimmings.
