DEC extends public comment period on the future of the Marcellus Shale

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) announced yesterday that the comment period for the public to weigh in on the future of the Marcellus Shale until January 11, 2012.

"We're moving forward to ensure that the development and growth of the industrial hemp industry will provide valuable new economic opportunities and a competitive edge for Southern Tier and Finger Lakes farmers and agribusinesses," said Senator O'Mara, a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
