State Senator Tom O'Mara applauded the initiative, which is being undertaken with $10 million in funding from Corning Incorporated. He released the following statement earlier today:

“The availability of high-speed Internet has become the gateway to economic and educational success for communities across the nation and around the world. So this state-of-the-art expansion and enhancement of our region’s telecommunications infrastructure is fabulous news. It arrives at a time when the competition to attract new businesses and industries, and to create high-tech jobs, is tougher than it’s ever been. This exciting public-private initiative promises a major boost to the educational quality, economic competitiveness, and overall strength of many local communities.”
