Senator O'Mara's Online Poll: Is Senate on right track with new jobs plan?
Albany, N.Y., January 25—The State Senate has kicked off the 2011 legislative session with the approval of a new job creation and tax relief strategy being called the “Job Creation and Taxpayer Protection Act.”
Now O’Mara, who co-sponsors the measure, wants to know what the residents of his 53rd District think about the Senate’s new plan. The comprehensive strategy seeks to jump-start the upstate economy and help the state dig out of its current economic crisis through a series of short- and long-term actions focused on private-sector job growth, state spending control, and regulatory reform.
“There’s no denying that challenge No. 1 is the state’s immediate budget deficit. But we also have to begin putting in place a foundation for long-term fiscal responsibility and sustained economic growth. In the Senate we’re determined that Albany takes a new approach to economic growth and fiscal responsibility,” O’Mara said.

O’Mara is beginning his first term representing the 53rd Senate District comprised of Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, and Yates counties, and part of Tompkins County (the city and town of Ithaca, and the towns of Enfield, Newfield, and Ulysses).
