New state law targets invasive species

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed a law on Tuesday that will outlaw the possession, transport or sale of ecology-altering invasive plants and animals throughout New York.
Cuomo’s signature is a victory for the local environmental community, which lobbied hard for the statewide crackdown after the 2010 discovery of Asian clams in Lake George.
